Marjorie Prime
Artists Repertory Theatre
1515 SW Morrison Portland
A Pulitzer Prize finalist from playwright Jordan Harrison (Orange Is the New Black), Marjorie Prime is a poignant story of memory, loss and love, exploring uncharted theatrical terrain in its tale of Marjorie, a clever 85-year-old woman who finds that her memory is failing. Residing in an assisted living facility, Marjorie enjoys frequent visits from her anxious daughter and kind son-in-law, as well as a hologram of her dead husband as he looked 50 years ago -- an experimental attempt to help reverse Marjorie's decline. Told through a series of shifting realities, this Artists Repertory Theatre production poses thought-provoking questions about the nature of memory and reality in an age of artificial intelligence.
