"...Solid directing by Dámaso Rodriguez keeps the action taut and keeps us on edge. The actors use their skill to lure us right into the boat with them. We find ourselves in a world where language is a high-stakes game: an ill-expressed thought can lead to unintended consequences, an ill-chosen word to violence."

"...Rodriguez draws out some fine performances here. The main line of tension in the story – apart from whether they’ll find some way to make land before running out of food and water – is between Rolando and Joaquin. As Rolando, whose success in America seems only to have stoked his anti-Castro fury, Andrés Alcalá is a cauldron of spit and sarcasm, where the husks of old pains have settled to the bottom. Jason Glick as Joaquin is at first cowed by his former pal’s combativeness, but shows over time that what others might see as weakness is a weary caution shaped by his own more acute losses."

"...The production is filled with stellar, many-layered moments like these, in between the verbal and action fireworks. The magic is in the deft handling of all of this by the cast, punctuated equally with amazing swirling boat set, projections and video design by Megan Wilkerson and the sounds of a storm, high seas, or Cuban music by Rodolfo Ortega. This production probably deserves many awards this season, but Wilkerson & Ortega in particular for their ability to use these elements to put the audience right on the seas with our crew and passengers, without any heavy-handed over-use. A moment of a star-lit night, a swirling maelstrom of projected waves, the sound of a birds or a far away passing freighter, the interstitial musical bump and grind of crowd-pleasing Cuban sambas of their homeland – all these contribute expertly to evening’s experience."

"...Rodriguez and Wilkerson, as mentioned, have created an amazing atmosphere for this story. And the author, Lacamara, does not seem to be making judgments on people but simply giving them a platform on which to expound on their lives as they see it. And the actors are all excellent in revealing the colors of their rainbows. A fine ensemble cast."
