Three Men on a Horse
Lakewood Center for the Arts
368 South State Street Lake Oswego
It's a conundrum so wickedly comic (or hilariously tragic?) you'd think the ancient Greeks had thunk it up: Wonder if you could always pick the winner, but only if you never placed a bet? That's the premise of Three Men on a Horse, the classic comedy that has been produced on Broadway no less than four times. Playing hooky from work, Erwin Trowbridge meets a group of professional gamblers. They quickly discover Erwin has a near mystical power to pick winners at the races, as long as he himself is not doing the betting. Erwin soon joins up with the high-living gamblers. But he then starts missing his family ... while his cronies start insisting he put money on a horse himself. Michael Griggs directs a lively staging of Three Men on a Horse for Lakewood Theatre Company.
