"...Young actors David VanDyke, Jonathan Pen, and Sophie Keller capably round out the neighborhood gang, and Bean's parents are played by Alex Leigh Ramirez and Joey Côte as reassuringly out-of-the-loop presences who are also, in that odd world of childhood independence, reliably there. And as usual at OCT, where I+B continues through November 23 in the Newmark Theatre, production values are crisp. Director Isaac Lamb, musical director Mont Chris Hubbard, choreographer Amy Beth Frankel, costumer Ashton Hull, scenic designer Kristeen Willis Crosser, lighting designer Phil McBeth, sound designer Scott Thirson, and props master Kaye Blankenship make up a thoroughly professional and technically precise team: young audiences here are enjoying the benefits of a fully fleshed and tightly timed production. I would go to this eagerly oddball, breezily funny show even if I didn't have a kid in tow. Come to think of it, that's exactly what I did."

"...The OCT Ivy + Bean production does NOT disappoint. The show was PACKED, and Stan Foote, OCT Artistic Director Extraordinaire, mentioned they’re close to selling out, so get in now while the gettin’s good."

"...The cast is first-rate, with Roessler as a stand-out at the “evil” sister. And there are some great bits by Lamb with the cast such as the trampoline timing in a musical number and the passing down of a basket filled with secret stuff to Bean. Priceless. Lamb has kept the cast energized throughout the show with never a dull moment. And some of the reaction shots, especially from Bean, are perfectly in character for the scenes."
