Bye Bye Birdie YPE
Alpenrose Opera House
6149 SW Shattuck Rd Portland
Bye Bye Birdie is a satire crafted with the fondest affection, telling the story of a rock and roll singer who is about to be inducted into the Army. A loving send-up of the 1960s, small-town America, teenagers and rock & roll, Bye Bye Birdie remains as fresh and vibrant as ever. Teen heartthrob Conrad Birdie has been drafted, so he chooses all-American girl Kim McAfee for a very public farewell kiss. Songs like "Put on a Happy Face," "A Lot of Livin' To Do" and "The Telephone Hour" are musical theatre classics. This youth production is the tops in imagination and good old-fashioned fun for everyone from age 7 to 97. See it at Alpenrose Dairy Opera House in Portland courtesy of Journey Theater Arts Group.
