The Music Man Jr.
Washburn Performing Arts Center
1201 39th Street Washougal
In this special adaptation of the heartwarming family favorite The Music Man, lovable swindler "Professor" Harold Hill attempts to pull a con on the citizens of River City, Iowa. In order to part the hardworking people with their money, he pretends that he will save the town's youth from the sin and corruption of the pool hall by selling them instruments and helping to organize a boys' band, despite the fact that he secretly knows nothing about music. The "Music Man" manages to turn the bickering school board into a barbershop quartet, win the heart of Marian the Librarian and somehow transform himself into an honest man in the process. This beloved musical, now at the Washburn Performing Arts Center in Washougal with a cast of youth actors ages 8-18, contains several show tune favorites, including "Seventy-Six Trombones," "Ya Got Trouble," "Till There Was You" and "Goodnight, My Someone."
